Arcachon Bay is a popular summer hot spot. Circled by large pine forests and beaches, the bay is made of 10 fishermen villages & towns and is famous for its oyster farming.
  • The Great Dune of Pilat: is the highest sand dune observed in Europe (110m). The dune stretches over 500m East to West and over 2.7km North to South.
  • Ferret Cape: famous for its lighthouse, this long land strip protects the bay from the Atlantic Ocean. The most beautiful beaches of the area are nested here on both bay and ocean sides.
  • The island of Birds: right in the middle of the bay, surrounded by oyster farms, the Island of Birds hosts the must-photograph "Cabanes Tchanquees". Boats cruise around the island for beautiful panoramas of the bay.
  • Activities: with over 220km of bike trails, cycling is a popular way to discover the area. Another must do is paragliding from the top of the Pilat Dune which offers bird views over the bay and the coast line.
